Art of Songwriting

This class will explore the fundamentals of basic song and chord structure, as well as the connection between lyrics and melody.  Students will experience the process of developing words into lyrics and melody into song.  They will also learn and practice techniques to uncover and expand their creativity.

Description:

Learn how to take stunning photos by exploring the techniques of digital photography. This class is for all skill levels and there will be both discussion and real life application. Weather permitting; we will take field trips to Brackenridge Park to practice. Topics include composition, framing, aspect ratio, proper exposure, histograms, shooting in manual, and basic editing.

You must bring a DSLR camera to each class. Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom will be a valuable tool for the class, but not required.

Discover the world of monotype, or monoprinting, a method that produces just one print and can easily be replicated at home. Students will have the option to create black or single color prints as well as using multiple colors.  Various methods will be covered.  This is a simple method of printmaking that produces beautiful and spontaneous results.
Supply List
Lithography or etching ink, any color/s or just black
Mineral spirits
OR Akua Kolor water-based inks (no need for mineral spirits)- the nontoxic option 
Printmaking paper (optional- school does supply Bristol paper)
Rubber Brayer 4-6 in
Paint brushes 3-4, different sizes (optional- school does have paintbrushes)
Roll of shop towels
Razor blade scraper
Ink knife
Wooden spoon

Printmaking – Linocuts
